Japan is home to over 800 Marugame Udon locations; a brand serving freshly made udon noodles in a distinctly modern fast-casual environment. As the brand began its push into the US market, Dreambox was selected as the agency-partner to develop messaging rooted in authenticity, translatable across channels and focused on growth.

How to you tell the story of what Koshi and Mochi-Mochi mean without looking preachy? Most American consumers associate Udon with frozen noodles while Marugame Udon serves daily-house-made noodles in a style from the Sanuki province of Japan. Our team set out to tell a relatable story in a culturally-relevant style that could be used on multiple platforms with minimal re-work. We wrote, cast, location-scouted, shot, edited and flighted this showcase piece for the brand.

Thanx Loyalty Program

Being Exclusive isn’t just for dating anymore; Marugame Udon’s, ‘Exclusively Marugame’ loyalty program was designed from the ground up to absolutely focus the dynamic between guest and brand on a deeper connection than transactional. The success of the collaboration between the Dreambox and Thanx teams in this roll-out lead to Thanx naming Dreambox in August of 2023 as their only preferred agency partner nationally.
